Moscow is ready to cooperate with Kabul in energy, agriculture, industry and the development of minerals, the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry said following the visit of the representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Afghanistan, Zamir Kabulov, to this country.

During the talks, the parties will also touch upon the issue of deliveries of Russian fuel and agricultural products to Afghan companies. In addition, when the situation stabilizes, Afghan companies will be able to take part in the construction and operation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline, as well as in the restoration of large infrastructure projects built in Afghanistan during the Soviet era, the report said.

As the department added, during the consultations, considerable attention was paid to the prospects for recognition of the current Afghan government by the international community, including by the Russian Federation. Kabulov was in the capital of Afghanistan on January 12-13, where he held consultations with Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Mottaki and other representatives of the Afghan leadership.

On January 15, a representative of the President of the Russian Federation said that he had discussed issues of regional security, as well as the difficulty of stabilizing the situation in Afghanistan. Mottaki assured the Russian side that the leadership of his country “carefully listens to the advice of Russian friends and is working to create an inclusive government on human rights issues, including, of course, the rights of women and girls.”
