Russia is actively working to establish a visa-free regime with two Middle Eastern countries – Kuwait and Bahrain. This information was confirmed by representatives of Russian diplomatic missions, Izvestia reports.

Russian diplomats in Kuwait emphasized that work on introducing a visa-free regime is moving forward, and this proposal is under consideration by the Kuwaiti authorities. The parties decided to take this step due to increased interest in Russia on the part of Kuwaiti citizens after the launch of direct flights between Moscow and Kuwait in February 2023. Thus, in June of this year, the number of visas issued to Kuwaiti citizens increased five times compared to the same period last year.

The Russian Embassy in Bahrain also confirmed that it is currently actively considering the possibility of abolishing visa requirements for citizens of both countries. Representatives of the embassy emphasized that the Bahraini side is carefully studying the Russian draft of the relevant intergovernmental agreement.
