The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation spoke about the development of a new two-link transporter for formations deployed in the Arctic. Existing armored vehicles are also being upgraded.
“To equip military units stationed in the Arctic zone, a two-link tracked carrier of a light weight category is being created, two-link tracked carriers of the Omnipresent family, a two-link armored unified platform “Arktika” and support vehicles based on them are being finalized,” said the head of the main armored directorate. Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation Major General Alexander Shestakov newspaper “A red star”. According to him, work is underway on snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles and all-terrain vehicles on tires with ultra-low pressure.
The major general also said that according to the concept of the development of armored vehicles until 2030 and after this period, it should become more unified and have an increased level of protection for personnel from “damaging factors of conventional weapons.” According to Mr. Shestakov, Russian armored vehicles produced since 2021 come with improvements that allow in the field to install elements of additional protection for the sides and stern with lattice screens, as well as additional armor.
