Petersburg sea port “Bronka” can be transferred to Belarus, about this informed Head of the Second Department of the CIS countries of the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexei Polishchuk in an interview with RIA Novosti.
“The issue of transferring the Bronka multifunctional maritime transshipment complex, which is part of the Big Port of St. Petersburg, to the ownership of Belarus is being worked out,” Polishchuk said.
He also said that the capacity of the transshipment complex is 3.2 million tons per year, the design capacity reaches 20.7 million tons per year. The steps taken by the ministry made it possible to “many times” increase the volume of transit of Belarusian export cargoes through Russia, Polishchuk added.
In May 2022, at the summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), Russian President Vladimir Putin and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko discussed the transshipment of goods of the republic in Russian ports and the construction of a Belarusian port near St. Petersburg in the Bronki area.
