The Russian Permanent Mission initiated a meeting of the UN Security Council on Ukraine on January 17. About it informed First Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the World Organization Dmitry Polyansky in his Telegram channel.
“I won’t expand on what will happen in the Security Council at our suggestion in Ukraine at the beginning of next week — let our opponents live in ignorance for now (although we have already taught them that we try to respond to their uncomfortable meeting at their “anti-Russian” meeting theme for them),” the message said.
According to TASS, in the original version of the publication it was specifiedthat the meeting will take place on January 17 at 23:00 Moscow time, later it was changed to “at the beginning of next week.”
Earlier it became known that the UN Security Council will hold another meeting on the topic of Ukraine on 13 January. It will be dedicated to “ensuring peace and security in Ukraine.” According to Polyansky, this event is necessary in order “once a month, with or without cause, to push the Ukrainian story in anti-Russian coloring to the Security Council.”
In addition, Polyansky announced an informal meeting of the UN Security Council on the “Arria formula” on the December shelling of Donbass, which will be held on January 20 at 19:00 Moscow time. According to the diplomat, photo and video materials will be demonstrated at this meeting.
