Russia has reduced oil supplies in the Baltic Sea – Kommersant

Russia has cut crude oil supplies in the Baltic Sea to the lowest level in two months. The reason for this was a storm and a fire at the NOVATEK terminal in the port of Ust-Luga, reports Bloomberg.

According to the agency, from December 24 to January 21, Russia exported oil in the amount of about 3.36 million barrels per day (b/d), which is 50 thousand b/d less than the stipulated figure. The weekly figure for the first time since the beginning of December decreased by 340 thousand b/d, to 3.02 million b/d.

Export volumes, according to Bloomberg, fell due to continued bad weather in the Baltic Sea and a fire at a condensate processing plant located next to the Ust-Luga crude oil export terminal. On January 21, fuel loading was interrupted, which is why the delivery of one of the cargo shipments was postponed to a later date.

The agency notes that the value of Russian oil exports fell from $1.52 billion to $1.38 billion over the past week. Average income over the past month has fallen by an average of $25 million per week.

A fire at the NOVATEK terminal in Ust-Luga in the Leningrad region occurred on the night of January 21. The work of the enterprise was suspended. In the Kremlin they saidthat the Ministry of Defense and air defense systems “are taking the necessary measures to protect against this type of terrorist attacks.” NOVATEK considers the cause of the fire to be “external influence.”
