The Association of Bloggers and Agencies asks not to call Elena Blinovskaya a blogger

The Association of Bloggers and Agencies (ABA) sent a letter (available to Kommersant) to media representatives asking them not to call Elena Blinovskaya a “blogger.” The document specifies that Ms. Blinovskaya is a representative of the information business. Specifically, its business activities “consist primarily of selling proprietary information products” rather than creating “unique” creative content and selling advertising integrations. The ABA emphasized that the designation of Elena Blinovskaya as a blogger “casts a shadow over the entire industry with its negligent attitude towards the laws.”
Elena Blinovskaya is accused of tax evasion in the amount of 918 million rubles, as well as money laundering on a particularly large scale. A criminal case was opened against her on two counts of illegal circulation of means of payment (part 2 of article 35, part 1 of article 187 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Elena Blinovskaya faces up to 16 years in prison. On January 22, the press service of the prosecutor’s office reported that Ms. Blinovskaya was placed in pre-trial detention center No. 6 “Pechatniki” in Moscow.
