The EAEU continues to discuss an agreement on a free trade zone with Iran. Russia expects that it will be signed before the end of the year, Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk said. According to him, negotiations are also underway with Egypt, India, Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates.
“Now, indeed, the EAEU has come very close to concluding such an agreement with Iran. And this issue was reported, including at the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, and received the support of the heads of government. So here we are moving forward. We very much hope that such an agreement can be signed by the end of the year,” Mr. Overchuk said. TASS.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that several agreements on a free trade zone with other countries are in the works. But he drew attention to the fact that even in a bilateral format, negotiations are not easy, “and they take years.” In the case of the EAEU, the interests of the five states that are members of the union should be taken into account.
