President Vladimir Putin at a meeting of the Council for Strategic Development and National Projects recalled that Russia, according to World Bank statistics, was among the five largest economies in the world in terms of purchasing power parity.
“Despite, frankly, the pessimistic forecasts that sounded and still sound from some experts, primarily, of course, Western experts, by the end of 2022, Russia, despite all these forecasts, entered the top five largest economies in the world,” — said the president.
According to the GDP ranking of the countries of the world for 2022 in terms of purchasing power parity, Russia was the fifth among the largest economies in the world. This follows from a World Economics study based on statistics from the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
China leads the way in purchasing power parity with $31.5 trillion, followed by the US, India and Japan. Russia became the first country in Europe on the list, ahead of Germany and France, with a GDP estimate of $5.5 trillion.
