Russia disseminates evidence of ill-treatment of Russian prisoners to the UN

Russia circulated in the Security Council and the UN General Assembly a letter addressed to the Secretary General of the organization António Guterres with evidence of cruel treatment by Ukraine of Russian prisoners of war, informed Dmitry Polyansky, Deputy Ambassador of Russia to the UN, on his Telegram channel.
He noted that the document contains an appeal to Guterres “to achieve an end to Kyiv’s violations of international humanitarian law.”
“We will continue to focus the attention of our foreign colleagues on these and other crimes of the Kyiv regime during the meetings of the UN Security Council and the General Assembly,” Polyansky wrote.
This week, two videos appeared on the network, which allegedly depicted the execution of Russian prisoners of war by soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). At the Russian Ministry of Defense called these shots are a confirmation of the “knackering nature of the current Kyiv regime.” The department stressed that this case is not the first war crime committed against Russian prisoners of war. UN urged investigate reports of human rights violations and hold perpetrators accountable after these videos are posted online. “We call on all parties to the conflict to thoroughly investigate allegations of human rights violations and bring those responsible to justice,” UN Deputy Chairman Farhan Haq said.
Investigative Committee of Russia aroused criminal case, and the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova demanded from international organizations to condemn the execution of Russian prisoners by the Ukrainian military. The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) has begun studying the videos.
