Russia called on the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the UN to condemn the actions of the Ukrainian military and the government of Ukraine due to the ongoing shelling of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant (ZNPP), follows from messages Permanent missions of Russia to international organizations in Vienna.
“We once again call on the leadership of the IAEA and the UN, as well as all sane political forces, to strongly condemn the actions of the Kyiv authorities and call on them to stop strikes on nuclear power facilities and potentially dangerous industries,” the message says.
The Russian Permanent Mission noted that the critical infrastructure of the ZNPP was not damaged and the operation of the reactors was not disrupted only “thanks to the professional and effective actions of the Russian military.”
Earlier it became known that the IAEA Start preparations for a second mission to the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, but preparations are progressing slowly so far, as agency director Rafael Grossi is on vacation.
ZNPP is located on the left bank of the Dnieper near the city of Energodar. Four days after the start of a special military operation in Ukraine, Russian troops took control of the station. Energodar and the Zaporizhzhya NPP have repeatedly been shelled by the Ukrainian military.
