Dmitry Polyansky, First Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN, condemned the statement by the Secretary General of the world organization António Guterres on the issue of referendums on the entry of the DLNR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions into Russia.
According to the Russian diplomat, the Secretary General tried to influence the position of the UN member states on the eve of the discussion of the issue of referendums in the General Assembly of the world organization.
“The UN Secretary General did not have the authority to make a statement on referendums on behalf of the UN, … his statement on referendums became a manifestation of double standards,” the Russian permanent mission said.
