Russia and Ukraine terminated the agreement on avoidance of double taxation

Ukraine denounced an agreement with Russia that allowed avoiding double taxation of income and property and preventing cases of tax evasion. The agreement ceases to be valid from January 1, 2023, the Russian Ministry of Finance said.
“The Agreement shall terminate on January 1, 2023 in respect of taxes levied at source on income paid or accrued on or after January 1, 2023, as well as in respect of other taxes for tax periods beginning on or after January 1, 2023. January 1, 2023,” reads the message Russian department.
The Ministry of Finance added that Ukraine sent a note on the termination of the agreement on June 8. Russia sent a response notification today, August 23.
The double taxation avoidance agreement between Russia and Ukraine has been in force since February 1995.
