Rumors about "digital pensions" stirred up the broad masses of veterans

While the domestic ruble in the first days of April was bending and staggering, yielding to world currencies, rumors in Russia that pensions to Russians would begin to be paid in digital rubles became more frequent. This currency is unfamiliar to our fellow citizens, according to official statistics, 38% of Russians do not understand what a digital ruble is and do not understand the principles of its work. How then in general to be with a digital pension? Will our elders win or lose?

You can believe in 38% of those who do not understand, or you can not believe. In any case, a number of professional economists, whom we asked to talk about the digital ruble, sincerely admitted that they “do not know what it is and what it is eaten with.”

In a word, it is not necessary to talk about ordinary Russians who are not burdened with knowledge in finance.

The wary reaction of the elderly is understandable; rumors about a digital pension have stirred up the broad masses of veterans. In their wallets, they count pennies at the store counter. And here everything is clear. And they are offered some kind of digital wallets, etc., etc.

– At the first stage of the introduction of this currency, both cash and non-cash rubles will be circulated, – one of the financial analysts suggested. – Then the “figure” will begin to gradually crowd out cash rubles, they will not remain at all.

According to the expert, the digital ruble is beneficial to the state, as it will put tax collection under total control. But only in the event that circulation in the country will be only his – that is why at some stage we will completely abandon the cash and non-cash ruble. Otherwise, it makes no sense to enter it. For banking structures, the digital ruble is not profitable, because there will be nothing to take a commission, for example, for transferring funds.

Rumors about the digital ruble were not born out of nowhere. On April 1, the Central Bank launched a pilot project for operations with this currency. 13 banks participate in it. The experiment will take place on real operations with digital rubles and with the participation of real clients. Which are selected in limited quantities. State Duma deputies asked the regulator to provide clarification on this matter.

For the sake of fairness, let’s say that clarifications have already been received. Speaking in parliament, the head of the Central Bank, Elvira Nabiullina, assured that the Central Bank continues to develop both cash and non-cash money transactions, “so that it is convenient for people to manage in any life situation.” And that the digital ruble does not cancel or replace anything. “That’s another way of calculating.”

As for the digital ruble, one of its advantages is that a person will make completely free transfers for individuals. In addition, the owner of the wallet will be able to perform any operations with the digital ruble in the application of any other bank, where he also has accounts.

According to Associate Professor of the Russian University of Economics. Plekhanov Lyudmila Ivanova-Shvets, digital money is a necessary thing and must be implemented. As for digital pensions, this is still in the project, in the future. “In many remote regions, people still receive pensions in their hands, which are delivered to them by postmen. It will be difficult for them to get used to the new payment system. If we take a mass transition, then this is most likely for younger generations … “

Although, the digital ruble itself is not as scary as it is painted.

– This is the same non-cash ruble as the money on the account, – Alexey Zubets, Doctor of Economics, Director of the Institute for Socio-Economic Research of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, told us. – The difference between them is that the digital ruble is in the Central Bank, and non-cash in different banks.

– They talk about “coloring” pension money. For what?

– This is complete nonsense. It doesn’t make any sense. Although the staining procedure is quite possible, but only if we are talking about budget financing. For example, about control over the spending of funds for some projects. They will be “marked” and it will be clear how they are effectively spent.

Rumors about the coloring of pension money are a provocation.

– How soon can we switch to digital rubles?

– The Central Bank is actively engaged in this, I think that in a year the entire infrastructure will be ready. This story is now being studied in many countries of the world. The goal is to fight corruption and black money.
