Russia and China announced the upcoming visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Moscow on March 20-22. Boris Rozhin, expert of the Center for Military-Political Journalism, expressed his assumptions about the agenda of the negotiations in his Telegram channel.
The analyst has no doubt that during the negotiations, China will continue to advance its agenda for a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, which, according to Rozhin, partially suits Russia, but completely does not suit the United States.
The journalist said that any official statements on the supply of weapons following the meeting can not be expected. “These issues are always considered behind the scenes, despite American insinuations,” the expert believes.
At the same time, he did not rule out that issues of military-technical cooperation would be discussed – for example, the supply of drones. Until today, Rozhin recalls, Russia could freely purchase commercial and industrial drones, helmets, body armor, thermal imagers, night vision devices, various optics, first-aid kits and more from China.
The next question, according to the analyst’s assumptions, which is likely to be touched upon is the position of the Russian Federation regarding Taiwan. “China is interested in Russia supporting China’s position on Taiwan in anticipation of the inevitable escalation around the island, fueled by the United States,” the expert said.
Rozhin noted China’s interest in dialogue with Russia in connection with the creation of QUAD and AUKUS military blocs in the Indo-Pacific region under the auspices of the United States. This increases Beijing’s interest in cooperation, including in the military sphere, the expert believes.
“Beijing sees that a coalition led by the United States is being forged against them, so they will strengthen their ties with Russia, Iran, Thailand, etc,” the journalist concluded.
