Concern “Techmash” will receive from the state corporation “Rostec” three assets of Uralvagonzavod (UVZ) – enterprises of the Central Research Institute “Burevestnik”, “Uraltransmash” and plant No. 9. They are also engaged in the production of barreled artillery systems. The decision on this was made at the level of the shareholder of both concerns, the plants will be handed over in the coming weeks, reports RBC with a link to the source. Rostec confirmed these plans.
The state corporation explained that the decision will help “activate a number of development work”, increase production volumes and increase the supply of modern weapons to the troops. “At the same time, UVZ will concentrate on its main tank theme,” explained a representative of the corporation.
According to a RBC source, the need for changes arose due to a sharp increase in the needs of the army and the volume of supplies against the background of the military operation in Ukraine. He added that Tekhmash would work on artillery, and Uralvagonzavod would deal with tanks.
Plant No. 9 produces D-30A howitzers, guns for T-72 and T-90 tanks, and Uraltransmash produces Msta-S self-propelled howitzers. Central Research Institute “Petrel” – artillery systems and mortars, including transportable 2B11, 2S12 “Sani”, as well as installations for naval artillery.
