Rosstat worsened the estimate of the fall in GDP in the second quarter to 4.1%

The Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) downgraded its estimate of the decline in GDP in the second quarter of 2022 to 4.1%, the total GDP is 34.663 trillion rubles. In August, based on preliminary data, the service predicted a drop to 4%.
“The volume of Russia’s GDP for the second quarter of 2022 amounted to 34,663.6 billion rubles at current prices. The index of the physical volume of GDP compared to the second quarter of 2021 amounted to 95.9%, compared to the first quarter of 2022 – 100.6%. The GDP deflator index for the second quarter of 2022 compared to the second quarter of 2021 amounted to 117.0%,” the report says. Rosstat.
The reason for the decline in GDP is the reduction in value added in some industries. Most of all, the indicator fell in wholesale and retail trade (14.1%), water supply and waste disposal (9.2%), manufacturing (4%).
