Rosstat recorded weekly deflation at 0.02% for the period from 21 to 27 February, according to materials statistical office. The main reason for deflation was a 0.8% decline in prices for fruits and vegetables after their rise in price earlier in February.
According to the statistical service, during the week from February 21 to February 27, prices for the following products:
- chicken eggs (+0.7%);
- canned meat for baby food (+0.5%);
- boiled sausages (+0.4%);
- lamb and sterilized milk (+0.2%);
- granulated sugar, pasteurized milk, cottage cheese, powdered milk formulas for baby food, rye bread, vodka, meals in canteens, cafes and snack bars (+0.1%).
“For the period from February 21 to February 27, 2023, the consumer price index, according to Rosstat, amounted to 99.98%, from the beginning of February – 100.44%, from the beginning of the year – 101.28%,” the service says.
In annual terms, inflation as of February 27, 2023 amounted to 11.08%. Since the beginning of the year, consumer prices in the country have increased by 1.28%.
