Rosstat recorded a weekly deflation of 0.2%

Inflation in Russia in the week from February 21 to February 27 slowed to 0.02% after 0.06% last week, follows from the materials of Rosstat.
During the specified period, prices for the following categories of food products increased: chicken eggs – by 0.7%, canned meat for baby food – by 0.5%, boiled sausages – by 0.4%, lamb and sterilized milk – by 0.2 %, pasteurized milk, cottage cheese, dry milk formulas for baby food, granulated sugar, rye bread, vodka, meals in the canteen – by 0.1%.
Prices for fruits and vegetables increased as follows: onions rose by 3.4%, bananas – by 2.7%, tomatoes – by 2.4%, beets – by 1.3%, carrots – by 1.2%, apples – by 0.5%. The prices for cucumbers decreased by 7.6%, potatoes – by 0.4%, white cabbage – by 0.3%.
Of certain types of non-food essentials, toothpastes went up by 0.5%, matches and dry pet food – by 0.3%. Prices for diapers for newborns decreased by 0.2%, sanitary pads and baby diapers – by 0.1%.
Among the groups of medicines, prices for domestic analgin, allohol, levomekol, multivitamins – by 0.2%, combined analgesics and rengalin – by 0.1% increased. Prices for nimesulide decreased by 0.1%.
At the end of 2022, inflation in Russia amounted to 11.94% after 8.39% in 2021. This year, the Ministry of Economic Development expects inflation at 5.5%. According to the forecast of the Central Bank, it will be 5-7%. In December 2022, inflation in monthly terms amounted to 0.78% (the relatively high rate was affected by the transfer of indexation of housing and communal services tariffs from summer 2023 to 2022) after 0.37% in November, 0.18% in October and 0 .05% in September. In the summer, Rosstat recorded deflation for three months.
