Rosstat announced an increase in grain stocks in Russia by 43.6% in December

Grain stocks in Russian agricultural organizations at the end of December 2022 increased by 43.6% in annual terms, reaching 35.3 million tons, informed TASS with reference to Rosstat data.

Stocks of wheat increased to 22.1 million tons (+59.1%), oilseeds – up to 6.4 million tons (+34.2%), potatoes – up to 1.4 million tons (+11.5%). Sugar beet stocks increased by 3.5 times to 3.6 million tons. At the same time, corn stocks decreased by 2.3% to 3.7 million tons.

Stocks of meat over the same period increased by 5% to 56,000 tons, and milk – by 6.3%, amounting to 15,300 tons.

Earlier, Rosstat reported that the grain harvest at the end of 2022 in Russia made up 153.8 Mt net weight, up 26.69% from 2021 results (121.4 Mt). In 2020, Russian farmers harvested 133.5 million tons of grain. The wheat harvest, in particular, immediately increased by more than 37%: from 76.1 million tons in 2021 to 104.43 million tons in 2022. In July 2022, the Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev noted that the Ministry of Agriculture maintains the forecast grain harvest at the level of 130 million tons, and called it “one of the best results in the history of the country.”
