“Bend socks 45 degrees”
A new international standard, according to which freshly made shoes will be tested for wear resistance, has been developed by Rosstandart. It is based on the corresponding international ISO standard.
During the test, the shoes released from the conveyors will be tested for bending, simulating their operation while walking. The standard describes two machines for such testing, the first bending shoes according to method A, the second according to method B. However, both of them are suitable for testing any type of shoe.
The machine for the first method is a block in the form of a double platform and clips for the heel and bow of the shoe. The front clip is set in such a way as to press the sole in the place where the shoe usually bends. After that, the machine is started, and it begins to quickly move the front of the shoe, on which the nose of the shoe is located.
In a minute, it must perform 130-150 cycles, during which the toe of the boot is bent at least 45 degrees, and then returns to its original position. In total, at least 50 thousand cycles should be carried out during the test. After every five hundred, the machine is stopped and the condition of the shoes is checked (they look for cracks, tears in the fabric, if the shoes are not made of leather, see if the sole has burst, etc.), then the device is started again.
Machine method B operates on a different principle. That part of her block, to which the toe of the shoe is attached, is motionless, most of the platform is flexed. But the main thing is not this, but the speed of the device, recommended – 230 cycles per minute, possible – from 100 to 300. The minimum bend angle is 50 degrees. That is, the test may be faster, and the impact on shoes may be more intense.
