Rosenergoatom reported damage to tanks at Zaporozhye NPP

A non-radioactive leak, discovered at the Zaporozhye NPP by inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on November 21, is associated with damage to containers with distillates. This was announced by Renat Karchaa, Advisor to the General Director of the Rosenergoatom Concern, writes TASS.
“There are containers with distillates between the fourth and fifth power units. They are used partly as part of the nuclear reactor cooling system and partly for washing certain components and assemblies. It’s them [эксперты МАГАТЭ] and called it a non-radioactive leak,” he said.
IAEA specialists discovered non-radioactive leak from the condensate tanks on 21 November. They also noted that “key equipment remained intact and there are no immediate threats to nuclear safety.” Karchaa drew attention to the fact that these incidents are not critical in themselves, “but in the aggregate they form a completely different assessment of damage and risks.”
November 21, Director General of Rosatom Alexei Likhachev warned about the risk of a nuclear accident at the Zaporizhzhya NPP against the backdrop of shelling by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which resumed last weekend. At the same time, the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov notedthat Moscow is concerned about the aggravation of the situation around the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. The Kremlin spokesman said that all countries of the world need to influence Kyiv so that the Ukrainian military stops shelling the station.
Karchaa November 20 informedthat 15 arrivals were recorded, including those from the special building No. 2, where fresh nuclear fuel is stored. The day before, November 22, Peskov informedthat the threat to the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant is posed by those who shell the power plant, that is, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (APU). He also noted that Ukraine should be required to withdraw heavy weapons, as well as to stop shelling the territory of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.
