The subsidizing program for regional flights will be expanded to 49 destinations. This was reported in the Federal Air Transport Agency. Subsidy agreements have been concluded with 15 air carriers. Among them are Aeroflot and UTair.
“The new list of routes has been expanded to 448 destinations, the frequencies and number of flights planned for operation have been increased in accordance with the applications of the airlines that took part in the competitive selection. The list includes 49 new destinations,” the Federal Air Transport Agency said in a statement. The subsidies were allocated through the redistribution of budgetary funds due to the restriction of flights to 11 airports in southern Russia.
Earlier, the Federal Air Transport Agency updated the list of subsidized routes in early May. Subsidies got 19 air carriers. RUB 1.3 billion subsidies were allocated to 11 Russian airports. In 2022, 9.1 billion rubles were allocated from the federal budget to subsidize regional flights.
11 airports in southern Russia have been closed since February 24 due to the Russian military operation in Ukraine. August 26 Rosaviatsia for the 31st time extended temporary restrictions. They are now closed until September 4th.
