Rosaviatsia recommended iFly airlines, delayed three flights to Egypt through Syrian airspace, carry passengers on flights of other airlines. The measure is necessary to prevent violation of the rights of passengers who have experienced long delays in their flights.
The Federal Air Transport Agency explained that Syria is a potentially dangerous region for flights, in which “there is a serious risk to security.” Now the Federal Air Transport Agency is coordinating the safe use of Syrian airspace by Russian citizens.
Earlier today, on December 15, it was reported that more than a thousand passengers could not fly from Moscow to Egypt. Canceled flights tour operator Tez Tour explained the closure of Jordanian airspace, for which iFly was unable to provide an insurance certificate. The company said that obtaining a certificate is impossible due to sanctions against Russian airlines.
Ifly is not the only carrier cut off from flights to Egypt: as Kommersant previously wrote, planes with dual registrations NordWind and Icarus cannot get to the resort destination. The companies cite the lack of foreign insurance policies as the reason for Jordan’s refusal to let them into its airspace, but other Kommersant sources in the aviation industry familiar with the situation claim that the reason for the restrictions was the simultaneous registration of the aircraft of these companies in the registers of Bermuda or Ireland and Russia.
