More than a thousand clients of the tour operator Tez Tour are waiting for departure to Egypt at the capital’s Vnukovo airport. The delays are related to the closure of Jordanian airspace. Tourists receive vouchers for food and water, the tour operator told RIA Novosti.

“Passengers of night flights were accommodated in hotels. Tez Tour customers who are due to fly to Russia on export flights from Egyptian resorts continue their holidays in hotels until further notice,” Tez Tour reports.

The tour operator explained that iFly’s flights were delayed because on December 10 a request was received from the Jordanian aviation authorities to provide an insurance certificate issued in London. “Obtaining such an insurance certificate is not possible due to the sanctions applied against Russian airlines,” Tez Tour noted.

The airline has developed an alternative route and is waiting for its approval by the aviation authorities of Russia. Until yesterday, December 14 inclusive, iFly flew to Egypt via Jordan. Departure of delayed flights is expected today, December 15, in the evening.

In order to prevent violation of the rights of passengers related to the airline’s decision to use Syrian airspace, the Federal Air Transport Agency sent a telegram to the airline recommending that iFly take measures to transport passengers by flights of other airlines, according to a press release, available to Kommersant. The Federal Air Transport Agency recommended that iFly choose the safest routes and flight modes that guarantee the safe operation of international air transportation.

In March, the validity of certificates of Russian companies suspended European aviation regulator. This decision was caused by the Western sanctions imposed against the Russian aviation industry.
