Russia is ready to continue work on the implementation of the initiative of IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi on the creation of a security zone around the Zaporozhye NPP, transmits press service of the state corporationRosatom» words of CEO Alexei Likhachev. The meeting between Grossi and Likhachev took place in Moscow.
“Rafael Grossi spoke about the progress of his initiative to create a nuclear and security protection zone at the Zaporozhye NPP. In this regard, Alexei Likhachev expressed the readiness of the Russian side to continue work on the implementation of this initiative of the IAEA Director General,” the message says.
The press service noted that Grossi and Likhachev discussed issues related to ensuring nuclear and physical safety of the Zaporozhye NPP.
On January 20, the head of the IAEA stressed the importance of creating a security zone around the Zaporozhye NPP. According to him, on this issue, he will continue to conduct “intensive” consultations with Russia and Ukraine in the near future.
The previous time Grossi came to Moscow on December 22, 2022. Then the head of the IAEA and Likhachev discussed approaches to creating a nuclear and physical safety protection zone at the Zaporozhye NPP. On October 11, 2022, Grossi met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg.
