The Federal Service for Alcohol Market Regulation (Rosalkogolregulirovanie) may be renamed Rosalkogoltabakkontrol when the agency gains control over tobacco and nicotine-containing products. This was announced by the Deputy Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation Georgy Golovanov.
“It is planned to expand the functionality of Rosalkogolregulirovanie, endowing it with control functionality in the field of tobacco and nicotine-containing products. <...> Probably, the service will be called Rosalkogoltabakkontrol, ”he said (quote by Interfax).
Golovanov recalled that now Rosalkogolregulirovanie is working with EGAIS (a system for recording the volume of production and turnover of ethyl alcohol and alcoholic beverages). In the field of tobacco, the agency will use an information system to control the circulation of goods that are subject to labeling.
In the near future, the integration of the two systems will begin, since mandatory labeling of beer will be introduced from April 1, 2023, the acting director specified. Vladislav Zaslavsky, Director of the Department for the Digital Marking of Goods and Legalization of the Turnover of Products of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Golovanov expects that the draft law, which will give Rosalkogolregulirovanie powers in the field of tobacco products, will be submitted to the State Duma in late February – early March.
