Romanian president: NATO will not fight Russia over Ukraine

Romanian President Klaus Iohannis said during a working visit to the United States that NATO is not going to fight Russia because of the events in Ukraine.
“Romania is not going to fight, just as NATO is not going to fight with Russia,” Iohannis said.
However, as he noted, “de-escalation must exist on both sides …”.
The Romanian president also said: “This is a very tense situation and we, who have the longest border with Ukraine of all NATO allies, are clearly in a special position, but we are ready for any scenario.”
Iohannis explained that Romania is preparing for any scenario, but is counting on peace talks between Moscow and Kyiv.
