Romania asks for EU assistance to hospitalize gas station explosion victims

One person was killed and 46 injured in a series of explosions at a gas station in Crevedia, Romania. Some of the injured will be transported to Italy and Belgium, including two to a military hospital in Brussels. This was announced by the head of the press service of the Romanian government, Mihai Constantin.
He said that Bucharest had requested the activation of the European Mechanism for the Protection of Civilians. It was primarily used for those who needed intubation. According to the latest data, this is 16 people.
At the same time, Romanian President Klaus Iohannis announced the need to focus on helping the victims, and then to establish the causes of the tragedy.
The first explosion at a gas station in the city of Crevedia was heard around 19.30-ty. Soon the fire spread to the second tank, which also exploded. In total, local residents counted four explosions.
Rescuers outlined a danger zone with a radius of 700 meters. More than three thousand people were evacuated from it.
