Rogov urged Kyiv to stop blocking the Kakhovka reservoir

Ukraine must unblock the water supply to the Kakhovka reservoir, on the banks of which stands the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. Such a statement did member of the main council of the administration of the Zaporozhye region Vladimir Rogov in an interview with RIA Novosti.

“At least a cascade of four HPPs is not discharging water now. It is time for the Zelensky regime to stop this madness and restore the water balance of the reservoir,” he said. Rogov clarified that we are talking about the Dnipro, Srednedneprovskaya, Kanevskaya and Kyiv hydroelectric power stations.

According to Rogov, Kyiv continues to “play dangerous games” around the ZNPP. He explained that a further decrease in the water level is fraught with an environmental disaster and could threaten the plant’s safety.

At the same time, international organizations do not react in any way to the actions of Ukraine, Rogov noted. The official called on the IAEA and other environmental and human rights organizations to “act proactively to stop the crazed Kyiv authorities.”

Zaporozhye NPP is located on the banks of the Kakhovka reservoir, the city of Energodar is also located there. In early February, the IAEA expressed concern about the decrease in the water level in the Kakhovka reservoir. Later, Rogov confirmed that the water level in the reservoir had fallen to record levels, and declaredthat in this way Ukraine wants to discredit the work of the ZNPP. He stressed that the situation at the station is under the control of Russian specialists.

Earlier today, Advisor to the General Director of the Rosenergoatom Concern Renat Karchaa emphasizedthat now there is no threat to the nuclear safety of ZNPP. According to him, there is enough water for the station’s cooling system. At the same time, the decrease in the water level in the reservoir Karchaa called “an alarming symptom.”
