Soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) massively go over to the side of Russia in the Zaporozhye region, declared “RMA News” member of the main council of the regional administration Vladimir Rogov.
“The Ukrainian military on the Zaporozhye sector of the front are massively moving to the side of Russia. Such cases have become especially frequent in recent years. People no longer want to fight for the Zelensky regime,” the politician said.
He added that the other day, eight servicemen from the 110th terrorist defense brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also surrendered. At the same time, Rogov added that the Kiev regime is trying to transfer military personnel from the western regions to this sector of the front, since local residents often have pro-Russian views.
The military operation of Russia in Ukraine began on February 24, 2022. Russian President Vladimir Putin called the protection of the inhabitants of Donbass, as well as the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, its goals. During the special operation, Russian troops took full control of the LPR, as well as most of the DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Subsequently, these territories became part of Russia, and on October 19 martial law was introduced in the regions.
