The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are shelling the coastline of Energodar, about 15 strikes have been recorded, Volodymyr Rogov, a member of the main council of the administration of the Zaporozhye region, told TASS on Saturday.
“The shelling is carried out along the coastline of Energodar. There were about one and a half dozen arrivals, ”- said Rogov.
According to him, the strikes are taking place about 2 km from the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. Information about the shelling of the territory and industrial zone of the ZNPP itself has not yet been confirmed, he specified.
Allied forces destroyed Ukrainian equipment at positions from which Energodar and the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant were shelled, Rogov said Nov. 23. In the Kremlin at the end of November refuted information on the preparation of Russian troops to leave the ZNPP.
Russia has controlled the ZNPP since the end of February. In early October, after the Zaporozhye region became part of Russia, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed to take the plant facilities into federal ownership and create the Zaporozhye NPP FSUE to ensure the safety of nuclear facilities.
Russia and Ukraine have repeatedly accused each other of shelling the station. Against the backdrop of the shelling of the ZNPP, the head of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, called for an immediate end to the shelling of the plant and stepped up contacts with the Russian and Ukrainian sides in order to agree on the creation of a safe zone around the ZNPP.
