A car exploded in the center of Melitopol. This was announced by Vladimir Rogov, a member of the main council of the administration of the Zaporozhye region.
“Emergency services are working at the site of the car explosion on Kirov Street. The circumstances and information about the victims and damage are being clarified,” wrote he is in his Telegram channel.
According to Rogov, the explosion occurred around 18.40 Moscow time. The official called the incident a terrorist attack and expressed confidence that it was aimed “at destabilizing the region and disrupting the restoration of peaceful life.”
Rogov specified that the explosion had taken place in the area of the market, and an improvised explosive device had detonated. Its power was about 1 kg of explosive in TNT equivalent. Rogov later said that, according to preliminary data, a car exploded Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, which belonged to a local entrepreneur Ivan Tkach.
Initially, one victim was reported, later the number increased to two. We are talking about a man and a woman, they were hospitalized, the official added.
