Rogov assessed the risk of an attack on the ZNPP after the collapse of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station

The incident with the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station (HPP) and the decrease in the water level in the Dnieper downstream of the facility’s dam increases the risk of a landing of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in order to capture the Zaporizhzhya NPP. This opinion was expressed by the chairman of the movement “We are together with Russia” Vladimir Rogov.

The official indicated that during the day the rate of decline in the water level varied from 10 to 35 cm per hour, the daily decrease in the rate was about three meters.

Rogov gave some estimates, according to which “the maximum level can drop by seven meters, then the Dnieper will become shallow, as it were, it will be much easier and faster to cross this water barrier.” As a result, “an illusion is created that it can be forced, landed, seized a bridgehead and the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant.”

Earlier, the former Defense Minister of the DPR, Igor Strelkov, said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine would receive some advantage as a result of the destruction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station. In his opinion, the Ukrainian militants intend to cut off the Kinburn Spit from the “mainland” and create conditions for the successful crossing of the Dnieper. Strelkov stressed that if the Armed Forces of Ukraine manage to succeed in this direction, then the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation will be problematic in recapturing this sector. With such an outcome, the Ukrainian side will have a serious springboard for new operations.

Military expert, captain 1st rank in the reserve Vasily Dandykin said that at present “objectively, it is for them to cross the Dnieper now tantamount to suicide“. According to the expert, “as far as the Ukrainian army is concerned, the flooding of the river will most likely even complicate their movement, since now they will have to travel a greater distance.”
