The FSB and the Russian Guard will test the latest unified smoke grenade RDG-U. About it reports RIA Novosti with reference to an informed source.

“The law enforcement agencies, including the Russian Guard and the FSB, have become interested in the RDG-U unified hand smoke grenade supplied to the Russian army. These structures plan to carry out trial operation of it in their departments,” the agency’s interlocutor said.

According to RIA Novosti, the Russian army accepted grenade for supply in September 2023 Rostec completed testing of this weapon in February 2023. The RDG-U smoke grenade is designed to protect against infrared-guided missiles and weapons with thermal imaging targeting systems.

The grenade remains operational in the temperature range from minus 50 to plus 55 degrees. Its weight is 700 g.

The grenade was developed by the Central Research Institute of Precision Engineering (TsNIITochmash, part of the Kalashnikov concern). With its help, in combat conditions it will be possible to create a smoke screen from high-precision missile attacks, which will persist for some time. It was first presented at the Army 2022 forum. The grenade replaced similar products from the 1960s and 70s used in the Russian Armed Forces.
