Rheinmetall Concern purchased Leopard 1 tanks from Belgium for shipment to Ukraine

According to the Handelsblatt newspaper, the German defense concern Rheinmetall AG acquired 50 Leopard 1 tanks from the Belgian company OIP Land Systems, with the intention of transferring them to Ukraine. Before being sent to Ukraine, the tanks will be upgraded in accordance with German standards at Rheinmetall AG enterprises. A total of 30 Leopard 1 tanks are expected to be delivered.
Leopard 1 – Germany’s main battle tank until the 1980s. The production of this tank model took place from 1965 to 1984, and it served in service with the FRG until 2010. More than 4.7 thousand tanks of this model were produced. The Leopard 1 is equipped with a 105mm cannon and 60 rounds of ammunition. The maximum speed of the Leopard 1 on the highway is 62 km/h and the range is 600 km.
