The European Commission has proposed disconnecting four more Russian banks from the SWIFT system as part of the tenth package of sanctions: Alfa-Bank, Tinkoff and Rosbank are among them. The agency reported Reuters. The fourth bank is not named. The fact that these banks may be included in the new sanctions package along with the National Welfare Fund was previously written by Bloomberg.
According to Reuters, asphalt and rubber from Russia, as well as steel and aluminum used in construction, may also fall under the new sanctions. In addition, European countries want to tighten restrictions on the export of electronic circuits, thermal imagers, and vehicles to Russia.
It is also planned to tighten control measures over the sale of satellite data to China, which can be transferred to Moscow. In order to better monitor sanctions against Russia, it is planned to introduce additional reporting obligations. It is expected that the sanctions may affect the Arabic service of the RT channel.
As Bloomberg reported, the EU will also impose restrictions on Russian rare earths and heavy elements and will add to the sanctions list the Russian reinsurer of ships carrying oil, as well as dozens of legal entities and individuals.
The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said that a new package of sanctions would be adopted on the anniversary of the entry of Russian troops into Ukraine – February 24. According to her, the new package of sanctions implies €11bn trade restrictions.
