Reuters: Pentagon inflated the cost of equipment transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine by $ 3 billion

The US Department of Defense mistakenly reported a much higher value of the military equipment transferred to Ukraine than in reality. This was announced on Thursday, May 18, by informed sources.
According to sources in the Pentagon, the department revealed inconsistencies in the assessments of the equipment supplied to the Ukrainian army. The discrepancies are approximately $3 billion.
Since the said amount was not actually spent, the American authorities have the opportunity to carry out additional deliveries of weapons to Kyiv. So far, such deliveries have not been announced.
Meanwhile in Ukraine complain about the lack of weapons and military equipment to launch the repeatedly announced counter-offensive. Ihor Zhovkva, deputy head of the Ukrainian president’s office, said “the level of equipment we have is not enough to launch a counteroffensive,” while Kyiv wants the counteroffensive to be as successful as possible.
At the same time, American sources noted that about $6 billion remained in the $48 billion aid package for Ukraine approved by Congress in December 2022. This means that US funds for weapons and supplies for the Ukrainian army may dry up by mid-summer.
