Reuters: Kazakhstan intends to sell part of its oil through Azerbaijan, bypassing Russia

Kazakhstan intends to supply and sell about 100,000 barrels per day, bypassing Russia through Azerbaijani pipelines, transmits Reuters, citing a source.
According to the agency, the national company of Kazakhstan “KazMunayGas” is conducting preliminary negotiations with the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan on oil supplies. Nur-Sultan plans to sell 1.5 million tons of fuel per year through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan Azerbaijani oil pipeline.
It is noted that the parties intend to sign a final contract for the transportation of oil at the end of August, and deliveries will begin in the autumn. If the agreement is signed, then Kazakhstan will be able to sell a little about 30,000 barrels per day.
The Republic previously supplied oil through the pipes of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) to Novorossiysk. CPC is one of the largest investment projects in the energy sector with the participation of foreign partners in the CIS. The CPC Tengiz-Novorossiysk oil pipeline transports more than two thirds of all Kazakh oil exports. The pipeline delivers oil from fields in Russia and Kazakhstan to a marine terminal near Novorossiysk.
On July 6, the CPC press service reported that the Primorsky District Court of Novorossiysk suspended the company’s activities for 30 days due to violations in the Oil Spill Response Plan. The company said that on May 6, as a result of an audit, the supervisory authorities identified several violations in the Liquidation Plan and issued an order to eliminate them by November 30. However, already on June 6, Rostransnadzor drew up a report on an administrative violation and applied to the court with a petition to suspend CPC activities for 90 days.
On August 11, the Krasnodar Regional Court overturned the decision of the lower court and replaced the suspension of CPC activities with a fine of 200,000 rubles.
Against the backdrop of a situation with a possible suspension of supplies through the CPC oil pipeline system, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed the state-owned Kazmunaigas company to work out the best option for implementing the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) to diversify oil exports.
