Reuters: Biden said Ukrainian air defense missile fell in Poland

US President Joe Biden, at a meeting with the leaders of the G7 countries and NATO, said that the strike on Poland was carried out by a Ukrainian air defense missile (air defense). About it writes Reuters, citing a NATO source.

Earlier today, answering questions from reporters on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Bali, Biden doubtedthat the rocket that fell in Poland was Russian. According to him, the trajectory of weapons indicates a “low probability” that the missile could be launched from the territory of the Russian Federation.

Later Associated Press (AP) citing three US officials declaredthat the missile was fired by Ukrainian troops to shoot down a Russian projectile. At the same time, the day before, on November 15, AP, referring to a representative of American intelligence, wrote that the missiles that fell in Poland were allegedly Russian.

The incident with the fall of missiles on the territory of Poland occurred on November 15. Local media reported that two people were killed in the incident. Against the backdrop of these events, the Polish authorities called an urgent meeting of the national security committee. The Polish Foreign Ministry said that the weapons were supposedly Russian. In this regard, the Russian ambassador to the republic, Sergei Andreev, was summoned to the ministry.

At the same time, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation refuted Moscow’s involvement in the incident. The department called the publications in the media “a deliberate provocation.” Today the ministry reportedthat Russian experts from the military-industrial complex, based on photographs from the scene, established that the wreckage belonged to the Ukrainian S-300 missile system. The Ministry of Defense once again emphasized that the Russian army attacked targets only on the territory of Ukraine, at a distance of no closer than 35 km from the Ukrainian-Polish border.

About Russia’s non-involvement in the incident with the fallen rocket in Poland earlier declared Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. He noted that he believes the words of the Russian authorities. Erdogan also said that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz supported a detailed investigation into the incident.

Earlier today, the Kremlin commented on the situation. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov drew attention to the “emotional” reaction of Poland and countered it with the “restrained” statements of the United States. He added that this situation once again confirmed that one should not rush to make assessments “at such crucial moments”.
