Residents of Rostov-on-Don urged to stay at home due to the passage of military equipment

Residents of Rostov-on-Don were asked not to leave their homes, military equipment could pass through the city, head of the city administration Alexei Logvinenko said on his Telegram channel.

“In connection with the possible passage of military equipment through the streets of the city, I ask you to be extremely careful and cautious. For your safety, do not leave your homes, exclude trips to the central part of Rostov and do not leave your children unattended,” wrote He.

The regional government also said that the regional Ministry of Education recommended students not to leave the hostel for safety reasons. The authorities advised to contact the commandants on matters of life support.

Earlier, against the backdrop of statements by the head of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin, the authorities of the Rostov, Voronezh, Lipetsk, Kursk regions, as well as Moscow and the Moscow region, announced anti-terrorist measures. Restrictions began to be introduced on federal highways, and mass events were canceled. In addition, earlier today it became known about the closure of the UK visa application center in Rostov-on-Don for several days.

Rostov Governor Vasily Golubev on the morning of June 24 urged residents not to travel to the M4 Don highway and said that due to traffic restrictions, many kilometers of traffic jams had formed on several sections of the federal highway. The governor also asked residents of Rostov-on-Don to refrain from traveling to the center and stay at home if possible. According to him, the situation is under control and the city administration and services have been instructed to “preserve the normal functioning of all city systems.” It was decided to cancel all public events in the city.

On the evening of June 23, on social networks associated with Prigozhin, on his behalf, it was announced about a missile attack on one of the rear camps of a military company and other statements were circulated. The Ministry of Defense stated that reports of attacks on Wagner PMC fighters are not true and are an “information provocation.” It was reported that the Investigation Department of the FSB of Russia opened a criminal case on the organization of an armed rebellion against Prigozhin.

Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the citizens of Russia, the personnel of the Armed Forces, law enforcement agencies and special services. He stated that all those who prepared an armed rebellion, “took the path of blackmail and terrorist methods”, will be punished – “they will answer both before the law and before our people.”
