Reshetnikov said there are no risks of inflation accelerating above the forecast

The Ministry of Economic Development sees no risks that would allow us to talk about going beyond the agency’s forecast for inflation at the level of 5.3%. This was announced by the Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov, write “RIA News”.
According to Rosstat, weekly inflation in Russia for the period from May 30 to June 5 accelerated from 0.08% to 0.21%. In annual terms, inflation was 2.68%.
At the end of April, the Bank of Russia improved the forecast for inflation and the rate of recovery of the Russian economy in 2023. The regulator now expects GDP growth of 0.5-2% for the year. According to the Central Bank, inflation in 2023 will be 4.5-6.5%, in February it was expected at the level of 5-7%. According to the regulator’s forecast, in the second quarter inflation will be at the level of 3.6%, and by the end of the year it may reach 4.5-6.5%. In 2024, inflation will reach a plateau.
At the end of May, the Ministry of Economic Development introduced review “On the current situation in the economy”, according to which Russia’s GDP growth in April amounted to 3.3% in annual terms after a decline of 0.7% in March and 2.6% in February. The positive dynamics is due to the low base in 2022, when the indicator decreased by 3%. June 5 Finance Minister Anton Siluanov admitted GDP growth by 1% at the end of the year.
