Reshetnikov announced the growth of trade between Russia and Belarus in the context of sanctions

The Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Maxim Reshetnikov said that the increased integration of Russia and Belarus made it possible to mitigate the economic downturn in the face of sanctions. In particular, according to Mr. Reshetnikov, the indicators of mutual trade between the countries in 2022 increased to $34.5 billion.
“Mutual trade turnover for ten months increased by 10% and reached $34.5 billion. Imports from Belarus increased by 38%. We expect that by the end of the year we will reach a record figure,” the minister said during a meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia (TASS quote).
In addition, Mr. Reshetnikov also noted that Russian-Belarusian cooperation has improved Russia’s GDP. According to the minister, the fall in Russian GDP from January to October of this year amounted to 1.9%, despite the forecasts of the Ministry of Economy, according to which GDP will decrease by 2.1% at the end of the year.
On December 16, at a meeting on cooperation between Russia and Belarus, President Alexander Lukashenko declaredthat an important condition for interaction between the two countries is equal gas prices. Mr. Lukashenko noted that under these conditions, the cost of gas and oil should not be too high.
