RBC: due to problems with the repair of engines in Primorye, flights within the region are reduced

Air transportation in Primorsky Krai on Canadian DHC-6 aircraft decreased due to difficulties with technical support of engines against the backdrop of sanctions, said RBC with reference to a letter from the regional Minister of Transport and Roads Oleksiy Ignatenko to the Ministry for the Development of the Far East.
According to the publication, in 2023 the engine life of three Canadian DHC-6 aircraft, on which the single Far Eastern airline Aurora carries out passenger transportation within Primorye, will end. The number of flights has already been forced to halve. Currently, the region’s authorities are looking for a foreign company that can service the engines of the DHC-6 aircraft. In the meantime, it is planned to use Mi-8 helicopters to replace Canadian aircraft, the material says.
The press service of the government of Primorye today could not provide Kommersant with an operational comment.
Regional authorities acquired the first two DHC-6s in 2014. In 2019, it was reported that over 5 years, the Aurora airline on DHC-6 transported about 150 thousand passengers, performed more than 13 thousand flights, spent about 16 thousand hours in flight. DHC-6 “demonstrate the optimal ratio of technical and economic parameters”— reported authorities of Primorye.
In December last year, Aurora Airlines informed on the start of sales of air tickets to domestic destinations in Primorsky Krai for the winter navigation season (January-March 2023). Flights from Vladivostok are scheduled to Kavalerovo, Dalnegorsk, Preobrazhenie, Plastun, Terney. DHC-6s also fly from Terney to Amga and Edinka, and from Dalnegorsk to Svetlaya.
