RBC: contributions from large businesses may affect companies with a profit of more than 1 billion rubles

A one-time contribution from large businesses can be extended to companies whose average profit for 2021-2022 exceeded RUB 1 billion. About it informed RBC with reference to sources.

It is clarified that the formula for selecting companies that will make this contribution has not yet been approved, and other options are being worked out. In particular, there is no clear decision yet on what indicator will be taken as the basis for calculating the profits of companies – net profit or pre-tax. Also, the period during which the company received high profits remains a debatable issue.

According to the publication, this fee from business can be formalized in the Tax Code as a fee. “We are talking about the fee established in the Tax Code, which is of a universal nature – it will have to be paid by everyone, except for the subjects SME“, – said a source in the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP).

The fact that the government is discussing with big business a one-time voluntary tax contribution to the budget, informed First Deputy Prime Minister Andrey Belousov 8 February. According to him, this is not a tax increase, but the so-called windfall tax (tax on windfall profits).

Later Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov notedthat the Ministry of Finance expects to receive from the business a total of about 300 billion rubles. According to him, the collection of a tax on profit growth in 2021 and 2022 is now being considered. compared to 2019 and 2020 Siluanov specified that the initiative would not affect the oil and gas sector and small businesses.

In the Kremlin emphasizedthat the contribution is voluntary. According to the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov, the interaction between the country’s leadership and business is “a two-way road.” It is necessary to understand the current realities and needs of the country, he stressed.
