RBC: Apple decided to abandon the lease of an office in Moscow

The American company Apple will stop renting an office in the Romanov Dvor business center near the Kremlin in Moscow. The company is negotiating the terms of termination of the contract. This was reported RBC with reference to sources in the commercial real estate market.
Apple rented an office for 3.5 thousand square meters in Romanov Dvor. m in 2017, later its area grew to 4.7 thousand sq. m. m. According to the Unified State Register of Real Estate, the lease agreement in the building from the Russian division of Apple is valid until January 2025. The leased premises belong to Alini Investments B.V., one of the beneficiaries of which is businessman Ruben Vardanyan, RBC notes. In autumn, he renounced Russian citizenship and received post of State Minister of Nagorno-Karabakh.
According to RBC, Apple decided to abandon the office lease after the announcement of partial mobilization in Russia. At the same time, since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, Apple has not fully used these areas.
Apple announced the reduction of supplies to Russia after the start of military operations in Ukraine. The company also limited the work of the Apple Pay payment service in Russia. Apple products are included in the list of products allowed for parallel import. By information “Vedomosti”, the company took most of the employees of the Russian office to Kyrgyzstan, Dubai and London.
