In Russia deliveries of laptops were reduced by 65%

From January to November 2022, 65% fewer laptops were imported into Russia than in the same period in 2021. About this informs “Kommersant” with reference to the data of the analytical center GS Group.

It is noted that for 11 months of this year, the volume of deliveries to the Russian Federation amounted to 2.76 million devices. Market leaders are HP and Lenovo – they have 15% each. At the same time, the share of HP decreased by 12 percentage points compared to last year, and Lenovo – by 2 percentage points. Acer closes the top three suppliers – its share in the Russian market amounted to 10%, while a year ago it was at the level of 12%.

Compared to last year, deliveries to the Russian Federation also decreased from Asus – from 11% to 8%. At the same time, the Chinese company Huawei improved its position in the Russian market by increasing its share from 3% to 14%. The share of the Taiwanese company MSI increased from 2% to 11%.

According to MTS, sales of laptops for 11 months decreased by 17% in pieces and by 9% in money. The leader in sales of laptops in pieces for 11 months was HP with a share of 19% (23% a year earlier). It is followed by Asus and Lenovo with 16% each. The share of Acer was 13% (versus 15% in 2021), Honor – 8% (5%), Huawei – 7% (5%), and MSI – 6% (3%). In addition, sales of Apple laptops decreased to 6%, a year ago the company’s share in the Russian market was 8%.

In money terms, the first three lines are also occupied by HP (16%), Asus (15%) and Lenovo (14%). They are followed by Apple with a 10% share. It is specified that the market shares of the leaders decreased by 1-5 percentage points over the year. At the same time, MSI, Huawei and Honor were able to increase their market shares in money year-on-year to 9%, 7% and 7%, respectively.

After the start of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine, the largest equipment manufacturers suspended their activities in Russia and limited supplies. In particular, such a decision was made by Apple, HP, Acer, Asus, LG, Samsung and etc.

In this regard, parallel imports were allowed in Russia, the corresponding decree was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin in June. The Ministry of Industry and Trade has approved a list of goods for parallel imports that can be imported into the Russian Federation without the consent of the manufacturer or copyright holder. It also includes products from electronics manufacturers (Apple, Samsung, Asus, Intel, Sony, etc.).
