Charles III, for the first time since his accession to the throne, awarded the subjects of the British crown with titles and orders. The list of awardees was posted on the government website on Friday.
Brion May, a 75-year-old musician and guitarist of the rock band Queen, was among the recipients. In June, he performed at a concert dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. Brian May was knighted by Charles III.
British actor Stephen Graham, who became famous thanks to the films “Snatch” and “The Irishman”, became an officer of the Order of the British Empire. British Ambassador to Russia Deborah Bronnert and British Ambassador to Ukraine Melinda Simmons are now Ladies Commanders.
In total, the list of awardees includes more than one thousand one hundred people – equally men and women. Winners of state awards in the UK are traditionally named twice a year – in June and before the New Year.
