Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said that Vladimir Putin’s trip to the headquarters of the joint group of troops in Rostov-on-Don was not planned in advance and was promptly organized by the relevant services.
“It was a fairly quickly coordinated and organized trip; it was not planned in advance. On the other hand, it can be noted that they also take place quite regularly – these trips, and the president quite regularly receives a report from our military right on the spot,” Mr. Peskov explained during a conference call.
According to him, during a meeting with the head of the joint group of troops, Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Federation Valery Gerasimov, Vladimir Putin discussed in detail the situation in the zone of the military operation in Ukraine. The details of Mr. Gerasimov’s report are not disclosed.
In addition, as the Kremlin representative explained, during the trip the president also heard reports from other military leaders leading units during hostilities. Dmitry Peskov did not specify with whom exactly the head of state spoke.
