A spokeswoman for President Vladimir Putin’s election headquarters, Alexandra Suvorova, said that the president’s election website was subject to “numerous” DDoS attacks “from abroad.” According to her, it is currently operating as normal, all necessary measures have been taken.
According to Ms. Suvorova, quoted by RIA Novosti, Vladimir Putin’s election website was launched today, December 29. Since the start of work (around 13:00 Moscow time), the resource has come under attack. The spokeswoman did not provide an exact number of attacks or name the countries responsible.
Earlier today, the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergei Naryshkin, said in a New Year’s address that the special service in 2024 is faced with the task of preventing possible attempts of external interference in the presidential elections. On December 15, Vladimir Putin, at a meeting with representatives of State Duma factions, said that any interference in Russia’s internal affairs during the elections “will be suppressed and dealt with harshly.” He added that the only source of power in the country is “the people and only the people of Russia.”
